Abstract

Karachi has always enjoyed the status of being the central city of Indus Valley Civilization. It is home to the heritage of the civilizations of Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa and Kot Deji which reflects its antiquity. That’s why, the foreign invaders have been invading it. The Aryan, Muhammad Bin Qasim, The Mughals and The English have ruled this city. Then, post partition settlement of migrants and overpopulation gave rise to those issues in Karachi which continue to plague it even today. Fahmeeda Riaz’s Novel, “Karachi” indicates those challenges. This novel may well be regarded as an Elegy of Karachi.
