Abstract

Twentieth century is considered as an era of revolutions not only in subcontinent but all over the world, in which resistance against imperialist colonial powers intensified. The Effects of this resistance can be seen in Urdu literature. Some poetesses also played key role in the creation of resistance literature. In this perspective the most prominent Pakistani poetesses are Kishwar Naheed, Fehmida Riaz, Parveen Shakir, Noshi Gilani and Mansura Ahmed. Social oppression, economic exploitation, political subjugation and shackles are the main reasons for the emergence of resistance behavior in individuals of a nation or society. The progressive movement also fostered resistance poetry against the colonial powers on a global scale.
