Abstract

21 Abstract The role of mosques In Islam is not only the manifestation of worship but there are evidences of religious lenience, tolerance and interfaith harmony in it. In the past, as seminaries, mosques have contributed a lot to nouriting individuals. Iqbal is reknown poet who has specifically used mosques as metaphor in his work of poetry. In Iqbal’poetry, layers of meaning are hidden in his verses and these meanings have treasure of interpretation. This research figures out that how much the mosques are helpful to create interfaith harmony, social linence and tolerance in present chaotic age as well as in character building of society fellows? This study also highlights the pivot role of mosques according to the academic and theoretical analysis. On the other hand, It will also explain that why Iqbal has used mosque as “Metaphor’’ and through this what kind of message is delivered to Muslim Ummah.It will also explained the different meanings of mosques as “ Metaphor”in the Iqbal’work of poetry
