Abstract

In the novel Garaan by Tahira Iqbal, the theme of Potohar and British society and tradition has been portrayed. In the Rural culture of Potohar, the engagements of the children by the elders of the tribes, then waiting for the fiances and the marriages of the boys to educated girls, have been narrated in detail. Moreover; the life style of the young people, going to Britain from potohar has been discussed minutely. Along with all these themes, the change in the lifestyle of the potohar society after gaining the wealth and then shifting of the eastern girl to The Britain maintaining her eastern values, have also been illustrated primarily. In the lasst of the novel, the Arab culture and tradition has also been discussed in detail. |
