Abstract

"Qalla Jangee”, a novel written by Mustansar Hussain Tarar in the background of Afghan Jihad, represents the both- historicism and new historicism. Through different characters he presented the complete story of Afghan Jihad including all its phases i.e. beginning, climax and end. To attain the target of disintegration of USSR, America fabricated a fake narrative of 'Jihad' and utilized Pakistan as a chess man. Later on, when America needed to put aside Taliban, it again utilized Pakistan as a chess man. In " Qalla Jangee" Tarar reveals the fact of Jihad e Afghan projecting seven characters who were survived in a cell. New historicism is the rebirth of history. It deals with the characters and aspects which were ignored or misinterpreted. Tarar particularly depicted the outcomes of the war which affected Afghan masses. History ignored these outcomes earlier. |
