Abstract

Letters have been a form of writing since the beginning. It is called the art of literature. In letters, the letter writer sends his thoughts and feelings in writing to the addressee. Letters have been written in various forms and styles since the beginning of prose. Letters of various historical figures have gained recognition in the world of literature. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal has an important place in poetry as well as prose writing and most of his prose works are letters. Allama Iqbal's letters are in Urdu, English, Persian, Arabic and German. Iqbal wrote these letters not only to his loved ones but also to the contemporary scholars, literary and political figures. Numerous collections of Iqbal's letters have been published which offer the possibility of new research topics in Iqbal Studies, including dozens of letters addressed to women. This article discusses the letters that Allama Iqbal wrote to several women and for this study Muzaffar Hussain Burni's Collection of letters of Iqbal is taken into consideration. This study uses a critical and descriptive approach to the text being reviewed. In addition to Iqbal's style of writing, the article discusses intellectual topics discussed in letters. By reading these letters one can understand the consciousness of Iqbal's personality and art. |
