Abstract

Feminism is a philosophy or ideology in which the pivotal significance is given to the identity of a woman. The feminist movement has a long history of struggle to equal and empower the women. Feminism formulates an integral concept of the feminist movement that promotes gender equality and opposes perpetuation of gender discrimination at economic, social and cultural front. In the 19th Century feminism has taken its proper shape in western literature, but in Urdu literature, only a few feminist writers, especially Kishwar Naheed, Fahmida Riaz, Ismat Chughtai and Qurat ul ain Haider etc have written about women feelings, passions, imaginations, sincerity, sacrifices and selfless love in their works. In short, the theme of this article revolves around the analysis of feminist movement, in the light of feminist ideology and history.
