Pashto language like other languages had many evolutionary challenges and its literature began with the living force of poetry which has its roots in Pashto folk literature. The first Pashto poetry period spanned over eight hundred years till 16th century A.D Ameer Caror who is recognized as the first poet of Pashto language. Akbar Zameen Dar has the distinction of being a prominent poet who introduced lyrics (Ghazals) in Pashto. Robaee introduce by Khalil Khan Niazi. We found poetess Bibi Zarghona and Rabia with their skills in Pashto Literature. Similarly before Khush Hal Khan Khatak (Classical Era) Pashto poetry covers over a century and this era is known by Peer Rukhan, a pashtoon nationalist struggle against the Mughals. |
