Abstract

Professor Sajjad Sheikh holds a prominent place on the canvas of Urdu literature with reference to translation, research and criticism. He had progressive ideology. For translation, research and criticism he selected the creations of those authors and poets who lamented over social injustice, religious prejudice and in-valuation of humanity. Saadat Hassan Manto is one of those authors whose vision and work have been researched and criticized in abundant detail by Professor Sajjad Sheikh. Professor Sajjad Sheikh has denied many prevalent facts about the life and literary works of Manto and has presented new facts with evidence and arguments. An analysis of Professor Sajjad Sheikh’s criticism on Manto’s life and work is included in this paper. |
